Michael B. Monias (He/Him) is an Indigenous, proud member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. He is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Monias Consulting & Projects, an Indigenous-owned consultancy rooted in purpose, and community. Guided by the Seven Sacred Teachings, Michael combines Western project management methodologies with Indigenous worldviews to advance strategies that centre people with purpose and long-term impact.
Through Monias Consulting & Projects, Michael focuses on project management & implementation, strategic planning and development, and community relations & advisory, supporting organizations to strengthen Indigenous leadership, and advance economic development.
In parallel with his consultancy, Michael serves as an Economic Development Officer with the Norway House Cree Nation Economic Development Group, where he supports Nation-led initiatives focused on entrepreneurship, capacity building, and sustainable economic growth. His work is grounded in Indigenous values and a strong commitment to ensuring development outcomes benefit both present and future generations.
Michael contributes to the broader community through governance and volunteer leadership, serving on the Board of Directors for Sunshine House Inc. and Creative Manitoba, and volunteering as a Special Events Coordinator with Pride Winnipeg.
Michael has completed the Mittohnee Pogo’ohtah Indigenous Business Incubator and the Certified Emerging Indigenous Leaders (CEIL) Program with AFOA Canada, and is nearing completion of the EMERGE Queer Entrepreneur Development Program with the Manitoba Queer Chamber of Commerce. These experiences reflect his ongoing dedication to learning, improving and the continuous pursuit of knowledge.
He holds the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credential, achieving above-target scores across all domains, and is pursuing the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation. Michael plans to continue his academic journey through Athabasca University, working toward a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Indigenous Business.
A proud queer professional, Michael approaches economic development and consulting with a two-eyed-seeing lens, ensuring that every initiative contributes to the social, cultural, and economic prosperity of Indigenous peoples.
