Last Wednesday, the Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) opened its doors to the community for a special Open House event at our downtown office. Designed as a drop-in gathering, the event welcomed both registered members and first-time guests who were curious to learn more about the ICC and the work we do.

The response exceeded expectations. Throughout the day over 80 guests were welcomed, a mix of long-time members, local business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community supporters. The relaxed format created space for meaningful conversations, whether it was members catching up with our staff, prospective members asking questions, or community partners sharing ideas for future collaboration.

Events like this highlight the core mission of the ICC: building strong, respectful, and lasting relationships. For us, strengthening Indigenous businesses is about more than economic growth, it’s about fostering connections and building trust. By welcoming people into our space, we were able to give a behind-the-scenes look at our operations, explain our advocacy and programming and, most importantly, listen to what matters most to our community.

The Open House also provided an opportunity for guests to connect with one another; as business owners discovered shared challenges, community members found common interests, and new partnerships began to take shape. This ripple effect is at the heart of what the ICC strives to achieve by creating spaces where Indigenous voices and businesses can thrive together.

Further, it reinforces the importance of ongoing dialogue with our community. The trust we build through these interactions ensures that our work remains relevant, responsive, and impactful.

We thank everyone who attended and contributed to the positive energy of the day. The ICC is proud to serve as a hub where relationships can grow, ideas can flourish, and Indigenous business can continue to lead the way forward.
