The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) extends a heartfelt thank you to Save the Children Canada for a generous donation of 290 Indigenous authored books that will soon be making their way into First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities across the Province. This gift is more than just a collection of pages, it’s a meaningful investment in connection, healing, and lifelong learning.
We were intentional in curating a selection that reflects the power of stories to meet people where they are. That means offering books that appeal not only to youth, but to adults as well, those who are so often left out of literacy programming but are the keepers of community wisdom, leadership, and intergenerational knowledge. Whether it’s a title that inspires new skills, shares Indigenous voices, or simply provides an escape into a good story, We carry these books as part of our promise to build relationships, not just make appearances in community spaces.
As we pack these books into bundles destined for Nation meetings, economic development gatherings, and local entrepreneur visits, we do so with care. These aren’t leftover library copies or forgotten donations, they are quality reads, selected with intention, gifted with dignity, and rooted in relationship. For many, receiving a book is still a rare event. For some, it may be the beginning of something even greater; a spark of inspiration, a deeper sense of belonging, or the first step on a new journey.
Miigwech. Nakurmiik. Marsi. Maarsii. Thank you. Your donation helps us ensure that learning, laughter, and leadership are part of every visit we make.
