Over the weekend, the Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) was proud to participate in the 20th annual Manito Ahbee Festival, an event that continues to be a cornerstone of Indigenous cultural celebration in Manitoba.
Held on the outskirts of Winnipeg, the festival brought together community members, artists, performers, and entrepreneurs for a vibrant showcase of tradition, talent, and trade. Moreover, the event also included powerful addresses by guest speakers from across the country, highlighting the importance of Indigenous culture.
Despite chilly weather and overcast skies, spirits remained high as the festival grounds filled with attendees eager to experience the sights and sounds of Indigenous culture. Each day began with a grand entry featuring hundreds of dancers in traditional regalia, creating a powerful display of unity and pride.
Beginning on Friday, the ICC had the opportunity to host a table and engage directly with attendees. Our team connected with a wide array of individuals, discussing the ICC’s mission to support Indigenous entrepreneurship and foster stronger business networks across Canada. In addition, the festival also featured a ceremony for new citizens, symbolizing the meaningful connection between cultural celebration and civic life.
From the music and dance to the strong presence of local vendors, the 20th Manito Ahbee Festival was a testament to the enduring strength and vibrancy of Indigenous communities. The ICC is honoured to have been part of this milestone event and looks forward to continuing our support for Indigenous businesses at future gatherings.
