The Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is pleased to welcome the Winnipeg Football Club as its newest member. Over the years, the Winnipeg Football Club has demonstrated a long-standing and meaningful commitment to engaging with Indigenous communities across Manitoba and the country.
Among their efforts includes initiatives such as orange jerseys worn during the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which honours survivors and raises awareness about the legacy of residential schools. Moreover, the development of key partnerships with Indigenous organizations, including the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, further reinforcing their commitment to reconciliation and inclusion.
In early 2024, the Club’s Blue Bomber Northern Winter Tour brought players and programming to 12 remote Indigenous communities in northern Manitoba. The tour created space for connection, mentorship, and youth empowerment through sport and education. These kinds of initiatives showcase the potential of professional sports organizations to be active partners in community development and cultural understanding.
Through this reciprocal membership, the Winnipeg Football Club continues to demonstrate its dedication to building strong, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and to advancing the goals of economic reconciliation in Manitoba.
As a member of the ICC, the Club joins a network of businesses and organizations that are committed to creating inclusive economic opportunities and strengthening Indigenous-led enterprises. We look forward to collaborating on future initiatives the reflect our shared priorities.
