My name is Vanessa Everett and I am excited to have been elected as the next chair of the Indigenous Chamber of Commerce (ICC). It has been an exciting journey being a part of the ICC.
I first became connected to the ICC in 2019 when I joined as a member and became a part of the board. Since then, there have been many exciting projects and changes at ICC. Jamie, our past chair shares some of those things in her goodbye letter. The ICC is certainly positioned to further enhance our capacity to be the Voice of Indigenous Business in Manitoba.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jamie as the past chair for all her work and leadership on the ICC Board, her contributions have been greatly appreciated.
I would also like to extend congratulations to the newly elected board, which is a mixture of past board members and new. It is going to be an exciting year. I am happy to see so many new faces around our board room table and the interest the ICC has garnered over the last several months.
I am looking forward to working more with our management and staff to implement our 5-year strategic plan; you can find our plan at http://www.indigenouschambermb.ca/strategic-plan.html.
Our mission is to grow the Indigenous economy by strengthening member success through networking, education, leadership, and advocacy.
Going forward, there are several exciting opportunities, projects and events in progress. These include but are not limited to:
We have also been in discussions with a number of stakeholders in terms of ways to collaborate and align our collective goals and strategies and work together to create and enhance opportunities related to Indigenous Economic Reconciliation; Indigenous Procurement and Indigenous business awareness
We are excited about what is to come and our continued work to do our part in ensuring there are thriving Indigenous businesses here in Manitoba - thank you in advance for your support!
Respectfully,
Vanessa Everett
